On the 1940 U. S. Census of Essex Co., Massachusetts, Leander R. Kirk appears with his wife Mary G. Kirk and their children, Sally, age 8, David, age 5, and Paul, age 2. Leander has had 5 years of college and his wife has 4 years of college. Leander is a teacher at a private school, Governor Dummer Academy. It is now called Governor's Academy.

New Castle News, New Castle, Pennsylvania, Monday, September 19, 1955, Page 2, Col. 2: Leander R. Kirk Dies In New Jersey. Leander R. Kirk died this morning at his residence in Plainfield, N. J. His wife, Mary Genung Kirk and children, Sally, Davis and paul survive. He was born on May 29, 1903 to Howard M. and Elizabeth R. Kirk of New Castle. His parents preceded him in death.

Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Helen Kirk McAfee and Dr. Elizabeth Kirk Rose and two brothers, Rev. William H. Kirk and Howard M. Kirk, Jr.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later.
