New Castle News, New Castle, Pennsylvania, Wednesday, July 12, 1893, Page 3, Col. 3: A Sudden Death. Mrs. Dr. Harris Dies After a Short illness. Mrs. D. R. Harris died Tuesday at 2:15 p.m. after an illness of but five days. She gave birth last Thursday to a little daughter. The excessive heat combined to make her very ill. She was not thought to be seriously sick until Monday when it was discovered that blood poisoning had begun. Nothing which was done could save her life. Her maiden name was Mary Kirk. She was twice married, the first time to William Crawford, and one daughter, Williamina, survives her. She married Dr. D. R. Harris in 1888, and the baby girl is left him. She was born in 1854, on the Kirk farm about three miles west of this city. Four brothers survive her, Thomas and Harris Kirk in the west, and Charles and Howard Kirk in this city. She was a member of the Episcopal church, and one of the noblest spirited of women.
