Mrs. Anna Cunningham Flaherty, a pioneer of Linn county, died at her home, 521 First street southwest, at 6 p.m. Sunday after a short illness. She was born in New Orleans, Feb. 11, 1854, and when an infant was brought to LaSalle, Ill., where she was reared. Shortly before her marriage to Patrick Flaherty Aug. 9, 19872, she came to Cedar Rapids and following the ceremony the couple made their home on a farm near Fairfax. The home was the religious center of the community and Catholic services were held in the home by a traveling priest. Here they resided until about thirty years ago when they moved to Cedar Rapids.

Her husband preceded her in death about five years ago and surviving are the following children, John T. Flaherty of Fairfax; Mrs. James J. Hurley of LaSalle, Ill.; Mrs. A. D. Harrington of Winthrop' Mrs. W. F. McManus of Oklahoma City, Okla.; Mrs. W. F. Rosser of Parnell, N. J.; Mrs. M. J. Donnelly of Cedar Rapids, and the Misses Nell, Julia, and Elizabeth Flaherty, all of this city. Funeral services will be held in St. Patrick's church at 9 a.m. Wednesday conducted by the Rev. Father D. J. Lenihan. Burial will be in Mount Calvary.
