Posted at findagrave.com: I researched him at the Humboldt Room at the Eureka Library and by searching the cemetery itself. Short answer: no grave marker. He died in the County Hospital in Eureka of Old Age Debility He was buried on the "county grounds" section of this cemetery (or possibly Sect. A or Section 2-Circle). I searched all three, but the probable place was the county section which is almost completely devoid of headstones. In 1959 the cemetery was redone for ease of mowing. Almost all the stones were removed for grading and most were replaced. However, many stones ended up being dumped in the bay and by the empty condition of this quadrant I figure that most of those were from county indigent burials, like our J.P. Kirkpatrick.
