Kirkpatrick, 55, Waterloo carpenter, died Saturday of a skull fracture he suffered in early morning when he fell from the roof of a porch outside his room. Neither Coroner Sidney D. Smith nor police could shed light on how Kirkpatrick happened to be on the roof, unless he had slept there during the hot night.
