Thomas C. Kirkpatrick was born 27 January 1827, Morgan County, Illinois. He married Mary J. Taylor. During the 1850's and 1860's they lived in Davis County, Iowa. In 1866 they moved to Chalmers Township, near Macomb in McDonough County, Illinois. In 1884 Thomas moved to Kansas and finally in April 1908 to Eply, Washington, where he died 30 December 1911. He was a farmer.

There were five children born of the marriage.
