Obituary from Dubuque's Telegraph Herald, February 28, 1984, page 6: West Branch, Iowa---Frederick Hosier, 87, of West Branch, formerly of Dubuque, died Sunday at University Hospitals, Iowa City, Iowa. Services will be at Gays Funeral Home in Iowa City, where friends may call until 9 p. m. Tuesday. Surviving are three daughters, Margaret Stacey of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Elaine Hosier of Dubuque and Mrs. Ralph (Judy) Wallenhorst of Potosi, Wis.; a son, John of Dubuque; 24 grandchildren. A daughter, Martha Wilson, died Feb. 2, 1984.

Gay Funeral Home with the Rev. Sam Hahn officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens. Friends may call after noon Tuesday at the funeral home. Mr. Hosier was born Jan. 31, 1897, in Edgewood, the son of Walter and Sabra Frentress Hosier. He married Margaret Isabell Moyers on Aug. 14, 1958, at Nashua. He was employed in the Maintenance Department at the Veterans Hospital, retiring in 1969. Survivors include his wife; nine children; two stepchildren, 32 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson and one brother, Ralph Hosier of Lamont. One daughter died earlier.
