On the 1930 U. S. Census of Dane, Madison Co., Wisconsin, Walter and his wife Mary appear. Walter is 58 and Mary is 52. Walter is working as a hod carrier for building construction and Mary works as a cook at a hotel.

Hosier, 87, longtime Delaware county and Manchester resident, passed away late Friday afternoon at the Snodgrass nursing home in Manchester, following an illness of several months. Funeral services for Mr. Hosier were held from the Shelly funeral home at 1:30 p.m. Monday, with the Rev. Murlin R. Hansel officiating. Burial was made in the Greenwood cemetery at Masonville. Walter W. Hosier, son of Elwood Hosier and Mary Pell Hosier, was born Sept. 18, 1874, at Manchester. At the age of one year he went with his parents to Nebraska where they lived for seven years, and then returned to Manchester in 1882. He received most of his education in the schools of Manchester and has lived in and around Manchester practically all his life. Mr. Hosier was twice married. He was united in marriage with Sabra Frentress on Sept. 18, 1895, and they were divorced in 1907. He was united in marriage with Mary Kasiah Burkey at Omaha on March 20, 1913, and she preceded him in death on Jan. 23, 1957. He is survived by two sons, Frederick E. Hosier of Iowa City and Ralph Hosier of Dundee, and 8 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Mr. Hosier was preceded in death by his wife, his parents and one sister.
