On the 1925 Iowa State Census Mary C. Pell Hosier stated her father was Joshua K. Pell born in Ohio and that her mother was Eleanor Veach born in New York.

On the 1930 U. S. Census Mary C. Hosier appears in Elk Township, Delaware County, Iowa line 84 in District 15. She is a widow, living alone.

Obituary from Dubuque's Telegraph Herald, Thursday, November 14, 1940: Mrs. Mary Hosier. Greeley, Ia.---Special: Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Hosier, SS [should be 88], will be held here Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the M. E. Church with the Rev. Oliver Jensen, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the family lot in the Greeley Cemetery. Mrs. Hosier died at her home here Wednesday following a week's illness. She was one of three surviving Civil War widows of Delaware County. Surviving are two children, Mrs. Albert Srenress [Frentress] of Greeley and Walter of Masonville.
