Obituary from the Palladium-Item, January 24, 1995: Morgantown---Walter "Deacon" Judd, 83, died Sunday, Jan. 22, at Johnson Memorial Hospital. He was born March 20, 1911 in Grey Hawk, Ky., to Frank F. and Mary Elizabeth Engle Judd. He was married to Bertha Rubschlager Judd on Nov. 13, 1956 in Woodland Park, Colo., whom died October 1991. He as a musician and also had owned park Grill Bar and Restaurant in Colorado from 1950-70. He was a member of the V.F.W. and the Signet Star Masonic Lodge No. 555 in Plymouth, Mich. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. Survivors include two sisters Velma J. Minor and Nellie J. Goodlin both of Morgantown; several nieces and nephews in the local area. He was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Judd and four sisters, Stella Sandlin, Bertha Fox, Grace Witt and Maude Jones. Graveside service and burial will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 25 at Earlham Cemetery with the Rev. Ed Pearson officiating. There will be no visitation. Meredith-Clark Funeral Home in Morgantown are in charge of the arrangements.
