Betty Ruth Easton was born 9 February 1924 in Omaha, Douglas County, Nebraska. She married Glen Leroy Petersen on 23 May 1942 in St Joseph, Buchanan County, Missouri. She resides in Greenfield, Adair County, Iowa.

By her father's first marriage, she had an older half-sister, Loretta Mae Easton, who grew up in Michigan and whom she met for the first time in 1954. From that time on they were close sisters. After her father's death in 1925 when she was a small child, she and her mother lived with her maternal grandfather, William D. Powell in Irvington, NE until his death in 1937. About 1940 she and her mother moved to Adair Co., IA where she graduated from Fontanelle High School in 1942. During her senior year in high school she met Glen Leroy Petersen and two days after graduation they and another couple drove to St. Joseph, MO and were married on 23 May 1942. They farmed north of Greenfield until they retired at the end of 1981. After living in Creston for several years they moved back to Greenfield in 1987. Glen died on 14 Jun 1988 and Betty continued to live in Greenfield for the remainder of her life. She was survived by her two children, Carol Moore and Roger Petersen and seven grandchildren.
