Lawrence Fred "Hap" Aldrich

The Daily Mining Gazette, Houghton, Michigan, Wednesday, October 10, 1990, Page 2, Col. 5: Tapiola---Lawrence F. Aldrich, 86, of Tapiola died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 1990 at Portage View Hospital several hours after being admitted. He died of injuries suffered in a car accident. Mountain View Mortuary will announce complete funeral arrangements at a later date.

Otter Lake---Funeral services for Lawrence "Hap" Fred Aldrich, 86, of Otter Lake who died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 1990 at Portage View Hospital as a result of injuries suffered in an automobile accident will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Mountain View Mortuary, in South Range.
Rev. Michael Laakko will officiate and burial will be in the Elo Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-9 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to services Saturday at the funeral home.
He was born Aug. 25, 1904 in Hampton, Iowa to Fred and Grace (Brisco) Aldrich. On Aug. 9, 1947 [1927] he married the former Taimi Paananen in Trimountain.
Mr. Aldrich owned and operated Auto Sales Repair and Salvage while living in Wayne and since 1947 he and his wife owned and operated Aldrich Cabins and Boats on Otter Lake. He was instrumental in building the dam at Otter Lake.
His wife also died Oct. 9 as a result of the accident.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Erma Vining and Polly Durdecki [Burdecki], and three brothers, Leonard, Clyde and Ralph. Surviving are numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
