Nellie Frances Kirkpatrick

Nellie Frances Kirkpatrick was born 27 December 1897, Bethel Township, McDonough County, Illinois. She attended Normal Teacher's College (now Western Illinois University), and graduated from Heading College in Abingdon, Illinois. Following graduation, she taught school at Cuba, Lake County, Illinois. She gave up her career to marry Charles Wilson Pollock on 12 March 1919 in Macomb, McDonough County, Illinois. Charles was the son of Robert Andrew and Clara Belle (Smiley) Pollock. He was born 21 February 1896, McDonough County, Illinois and died 14 March 1971, Macomb, Illinois.
Charles was a farmer, and owned and operated a dairy with delivery service. They also had a slaughter house and a threshing business. In later years, Charles owned race horses, which he raced locally and elsewhere. He served in World War I. Both Charles and Nellie were members of the Presbyterian Church.
There were three (3) children born of the marriage.

Born Dec. 27, 1897, in McDonough County to George and Anna Mourning Kirkpatrick, she married Charles Pollock on March 11, 1919, in Macomb. He died March 11, 1971.
Surviving are one son, Robert of Macomb; one daughter, Mrs. Neil (Imogene) Snowden of Peoria; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Nancy McAlister and Ruby Kirkpatrick, both of Los Angles. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Annabelle Garrett, two brothers and one sister.
She graduated from Hedding College Academy and taught school at Cuba the following year. She was a member of Ebenezer Presbyterian Church, Spring Lake Household Science Club and was a former member of the Home Extension Club in Emmet Township.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Sargent-Worthington Funeral Home in Macomb. The Rev. Ken Mortonson will officiate. Calling hours will be after 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Good Hope Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Elms Nursing Home.
