Johanna HAYES

Johanna's baptismal sponsors were John Connor and Catherine Cunningham.
It is not surprising that Johanna married William as they were near neighbours. Dirreen, although in a different county, is right next to William's home townland of Kilbaha; in fact the Hudson farm shared a boundary with part of the Hayes farm in Dirreen.
As Johanna died in Kilbaha it would appear she returned to live there sometime after William's death five years earlier (they had farmed in Kibaha for many years before moving to Lacca East in Kilmorna around 1920). The informant on her death record was her son Ned who appears to have inherited the old Kilbaha farm so it may have been there that Johanna died. Her death record also tells us she died of "probably heart failure following influenza".
I am wondering if Johanna was related to the Hayes family of Templeathea (also in Athea, the parish in which Johanna's home townland of Dirreen is located) because at least two members of the Templeathea Hayes family married members of the family of Johanna's husband, William Hudson: Tom Hayes married William's sister Johanna Hudson in 1881, and about 1903 Tom's second cousin James Hayes married Bridget Hudson, daughter of William Hudson and Johanna Hayes (and niece of Johanna Hudson). My hunch is that the two Hayes families were indeed related but I have no proof.
