Individual Details
Henry Herbert "Bert" Hamp
(25 Aug 1867 - 29 Nov 1944)
Died while visiting a daughter. His home at the time of his death was Milliken, Michigan where he was living with a brother Frank. A grandson quotes Henry Bert as saying of himself that he was a one-eyed barber dangerous to his customers and that he made crooked dice tables on the side which was dangerous to himself! His obituary states that he was an employee of the Tri-City lines in Rock Island for 15 years. It is known that he did own concessions in an amusement park at the end of his trolley line. He had previously been a barber in Savanna and also did barbering in Peoria IL from 1935-1940 (and perhaps longer) according to city directories there, not checked past 1940. He had also lived with his brother Frank in Peoria.
