Gervice Lee Hoffpauir

CROWLEY - Funeral services for Gervice Lee Hoffpauir Sr., 82, of Crowley, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, 2001, at First Methodist Church in Crowley. The Rev. Bob Hollis and the Rev. Spiller Milton will officiate at the services. Interment will be in Ebenezer Methodist Cemetery in Ebenezer. A resident of Crowley, Mr. Hoffpauir died at 6:12 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, 2001, at Crowley American Legion Hospital. He was a member of First Methodist Church in Crowley.
Mr. Hoffpauir served his country in World War II in the U.S. Army. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart as a result of being wounded in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a lifelong member of American Legion Post 15 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6720. He was also a member of 40/2. He was a former board member of the American Legion Hospital and the Methodist Men's Club of the First Methodist Church.
Mr. Hoffpauir is survived by his wife, Bernice Stutes Hoffpauir, of Crowley; sons, Gervice Lee Hoffpauir Jr. and his wife, Vallerie St. Julien, of Broussard, and Gerald Hoffpauir and his wife, Mona Arceneaux, of Church Point; brother, Jessie Wilbur Hoffpauir, of Crowley; and sisters, Agnes M. Dixon, of Orange, Texas, and Vernell Hoffpauir, of Bayou Vista. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Jessica L. Hoffpauir, Christopher A. Hoffpauir, Jessica Nolan Kelley, Julienne N. Hughes, Gerald D. Hoffpauir Jr. and Brooke C. Hoffpauir; and four great-grandchildren, Casady, Darby, Anna and Lance. He was preceded in death by his parents, Haughton and Lela Hoffpauir; brothers, Clyde and Carl Hoffpauir; and his sister, Hilda Boulet.
Pallbearers will be Chris Hoffpauir, David Hoffpauir, Leo Spaetgens, John Dixon Jr., Ralph Cowen and C.W. Hoffpauir. Honorary pallbearers are Brook and Jessica Hoffpauir.
Visitation hours began at 2 p.m. Friday at Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home in Crowley and will continue until service time. Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home, of Crowley, is in charge of the arrangements. (Lafayette Daily Advertiser)
