Death
Obituary: RAYNE – Mrs. Vernell Hoffpauir was born in Crowley, Louisiana, on February 20, 1927. She was the youngest daughter of Haughton and Lela LeDoux Hoffpauir and the granddaughter of William Hoffpauir, Jr. and Melanion Faulk and Joseph LeDoux and Zerelda Hoffpauir. Mrs. Hoffpauir grew up in Crowley and graduated from Crowley High School in 1945. Five years later she married Cecil Bruce Hoffpauir, and after several years they were blessed with their only child, Cecilia. They resided in Bayou Vista for many years.Mrs. Hoffpauir was a charter member of Bayou Vista Baptist Church. She was a devout Christian who studied the Bible faithfully and unceasingly throughout her life. Her family knew that she was always praying for them.Mrs. Hoffpauir was a sweet and dedicated homemaker and provider. She was a hard worker who always put the needs of others above her own. One of Cecilia’s favorite memories is being awakened each morning by her mother with a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice.Her grandchildren remember her as very caring and affectionate and that she was grateful and thankful for all things. She moved to Tomball, Texas, in the Spring of 2004, to be closer to her family and attended New Hope Baptist Church there.Mrs. Hoffpauir passed away in Tomball, Texas, March 8, 2007, at the age of 80 years old. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Carl, Clyde, Gervice and Wilbur; her sister, Hilda, and her husband, Cecil. She is survived by her sister, Agnes Dixon; her daughter, Cecilia Lang; her son-in-law, George Lang, Jr.; and her grandchildren, Ashley, Taylor, Morgan, George III and Hunter Lang. Pallbearers will be Gervice Hoffpauir, Jr., Bobby Hoffpauir, C.W. Hoffpauir, Jr., Joe Hargrave and Casey Abshire. Visitation began at 6 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 13, 2007 at the Magnolia Funeral Home in Magnolia, Texas. A second visitation will be held at Indian Bayou Methodist Church in Rayne on Thursday, March 15, at 12:30 p.m. The funeral service will begin at 2:30 p.m. with interment immediately following at the Indian Bayou Methodist CemeteryIn honor of Mrs. Vernell Hoffpauir’s love of God’s Word, the family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Gideons.
