1870 New York Census, Davenport: his age 65, born in New York, a farmer, wife Samantha age 63 born in Conn. The farm was on the north side of the Charlotte River, opposite Davenport Center about a half mile away and like many Catskills people, they took in summer boarders from the eastern seaboard cities per Dr. Bangs book page 39.
1860 New York Census, Davenport: his age 54, born in New York, a farmer living with wife Samantha age 54, Nathaniel age 26 (born abt 1834), Maria age 23 (born abt 1837) and Mary age 20 (born abt 1840).
1850 New York Census, Davenport: his age 44 living with his wife age 44 and the children.
1840 New York Census, Davenport: his age 30-40, wife age 30-40 with 5 children under 10 yrs old; brother Henry age 20-30 also in town with wife age 20-30 and one child under 5.
1830 census for Jefferson, Schoharie Co., NY, shows a Horace Hebbard age 20-30 (he is 24) living with a female age 20-30 (this would be Samantha Hoyt).
1829 marriage date from "Phineas F. Bresee, His Life in Methodism, the Holiness Movement, and the Church of the Nazarene" by Carl Bangs page 40. Marriage date is also shown in the Melvin A. Bresee application for SAR. IGI has marriage location as Fairfield Co., CT. Marriage date and names are from the Hebbard genealogy by Harry T. Hebbard dated 25 Aug. 1954. Ancestry.com also has marriage date but the location is Davenport, NY (?).

1810 census for Southeast, Dutchess Co., NY near Carmel, Putnam Co. shows his father Nathaniel Hibbard living next to his grandfather, Elisha Hibbard. Horace must be the youngest at age 4. It is assumed that his brothers Nathaniel born about 1805 and William born about 1807 died young.

Hebbard dated 25 Aug. 1954. Ancestry.com also has marriage date but the location is Davenport, NY (?).By 1829 Horace's father was dead and his mother had moved to New York City from Carmel, NY. The 1830 census for Samantha Hoyt's family shows them in New Canaan, Fairfield, CT. The question is where did Horace and Samantha get married? Are Samantha's parents correct? It appears that Samantha was living in New Canaan with her parents and what would bring Horace down to New Canaan?

1880 census fro Davenport, Delaware Co., NY, shows Horace Hebbard age 74 born in NY, his parents were born in CT, living with his wife, Mariah age 70 born in CT as were her parents. This must be a second wife after the death of his first wife in 1875. His second wife is named on their head stone in the Davenport Cemetery.Census (family)

The Davenport Center Cemetery is located on the south side of Route 23 west of Davenport Center. Keep a sharp eye out for it. It has a driveway and is well accessible. At one time this cemetery was abandoned and overgrown, but since then it had been taken care of. There are many unmarked, sunken graves.
