Lyman Sherwood

See "History of Putnam Co., NY" by William S. Pelletreau dated 1886, pages 442 and 452 at Heritage Quest Online showing that Lyman Sherwood purchased his father's farm from the other heirs containing 31 acres. The farm is located in the Town of Southeast, Putnam Co., NY, one quarter of a mile south of the Sears burying ground at Doansbury, being on the north side of the line between Lot 8 and 9 of the Philipse Patent. He also purchased the Penney farm near by sold to him by Frederick Philipse, 2 Dec 1815 containing 31 acres. The farm was also owned the Penney family.
From "Dutchess County, NY Probate Records " by Arthur C.M. Kelley (Rhinebeck, NY: Kinship, 1997) page 77 that Jehiel Sherwood died intestate and the court named his son Lyman as administrator of the estate (see letter from the NEHGS dated 6 Nov 2007).

DAR member 74380 Mrs. Ida L. Hollingworth Fitchard in her application dated 2 Aug 1909 shows his wife as Betsey (Miner or Mirser ?).
