Per the "History of the town of Stratford New Hampshire 1773-1925" by Jeannette R. Thompson dated 1925 pages 400 and 402.
1895 death report of his father, Marcus De Forest Johnson, was made by him as living in Coos, New Hampshire.
1886 shows him as one of several selectmen for the town of Stratford, NH, per the "History of Coos County, New Hampshire" by Georgia Drew Merrill page 767.
1884 he was one of several members of the board of education for the town of Stratford, NH, per the "History of Coos County, New Hampshire" by Georgia Drew Merrill page 771.
1880 census shows him as age 40 (born 1840) living in Stratford, Coos Co., NH next door to his father, Marcus D. Johnson. Living with him was his wife, Eva R. age 29 and daughter Ruth D. age 4.
1875 shows him as one of several selectmen for the town of Stratford, NH, per the "History of Coos County, New Hampshire" by Georgia Drew Merrill page 767.
1870 census shows him as age 30 (born 1840) a farmer living with his parents in Stratford, Coos Co., NH.
1869 graduated from Bowdoin Medical School as a physician and practiced in Conway, Colebrook and Stratford, NH.
1862 he and his brother, John Jay Johnson, joined 13th Infantry N.H. Volunteers, Company I in September 1862 which went into camp in Concord. The regiment left the state in October and served throughout the state of Virginia during the Civil War. They mustered out on 20 June 1865 and arrived home about the first of July. Company I was engaged in battles at Fredericksburg, Suffolk, Drury's Bluff and Petersburg (see "History of Coos Co., NH" page 175-7).
