Henry "Selham" Sullingham Jr

E-mail from Brenda Drowne (bjd75@capital.net) dated 13 May 1997 shows Henry Selllingham Jr. married Amy Brainard and lived in Stewartstown, NH. They had five children. His father was Henry Sellingham who settled with his sons Henry Jr. and Jacob in Thornton, NH about 1775. Both were in Col. Scammell's Continental Regiment during the Revolution. This information came from Brenda Drowne's grandmother's records and per her, from page 625 s. Stearns, 1906, of Plymouth, NH.
1818 shown on page 38 for Grafton Co., NH, in "The Pension List of 1818" @ FHC 973M24, is Henry Sullenheim, private, New Hampshire. This may be Henry Sr. since in the "Pension Roll of 1835, New England States" @ FHC book 973M24, page 514 for Grafton Co., NH shows Henry Sullenheim receiving a pension as of 1 Oct 1818 being age 94 (born 1724 this has to be Henry Sr.). Henry Jr. may have died earlier.
1817 page 666 of the "History of Coos County" by Georgia Drew Merrill (via Heritage Quest) at a town meeting for Stewartstown, NH, voted to "Set up Betsey Selingham, Susanna Selingham and Katherine Selingham to the lowest Bidder * * * * Voted to sell the Henry Selingham farm to pay for keeping Polly Selingham one year." No mention of wife, Amy. (This may be due to possible death about 1817 of Henry Jr's death.)
1810 census for Stewartstown, Coos Co., NH, shows Henry Sullingham Jr. age 26-44 (born between 1766-1784) living with 5 children all age 10 or younger being one boy and 4 girls. His wife is shown as the older female. His father, Henry Sr. is shown a few doors away at the top of the next page. His brother, Jacob Selingham is found in Peeling, Grafton, NH.
1808 birth of daughter Sussanah Selingham is from IGI which shows parents as Henry Selingham and Annie with Sussanah Selingham's birth 18 Jun 1808, Stewartstown Twp, Coos, NH. On page 664 of the "History of Coos County" by Georgia Drew Merrill shows the family of Henry and Amy Sulingham with Susanna Sullingham born June 1808.

1800 census for Stewartstown, Grafton Co., NH, shows Henry Sellenham as one of two males, one age 26-44 (born 1756-1774) and one age 45+ (born before 1755), plus two females one age 16-25 and the other 45+. Page 653 of the "History of Coos County" by Georgia Drew Merrill (via Heritage Quest) shows the first tax inventory in 1800 for Stewartstown, NH: Henry Sullingham is taxed on one poll, two oxen, four cows, one two-year-old, nineteen acres improved, and seventy one acres unimproved land; H. Sullingham, Jr. one poll and one horse (or ox). This establishes father and son relationship.
1800 page 664 of the "History of Coos County" by Georgia Drew Merrill (via Heritage Quest) shows prior to 1800 early settlers to Stewartstown, NH, were Henry and Amy Sullingham living on lot No. 1 and had five children: Katharine, born March 30,1803, Jacob born October 1, 1804, Elizabeth, born November 23, 1806, Susanna, born June, 1808, Polly, born March 30,1810. (This must have been Henry Jr. having the children.)

They lived in Thornton and Woodstock, NH. They had 9 children. They were both in Col. Scannell's Continental Regiment during the Revolution. This info was taken from p. 625 s. Stearns, 1906, of Plymouth, New Hampshire."
