1851 census show him as age 48 (born 1803) and employed as a watch finisher. It shows him and his wife, Susanah age 47, living at Far Gosford St., Holy Trinity, Coventry with all the children born in Coventry. The oldest daughter, Hannah, was not in this census.
1850 Lascelles Coventry Directory shows several Brown names in the watch business in Coventry as follows: Brown Bros. watch mfg on Moat St.; Joseph Brown watch mfg with home on Moat St. (this is Benjamin's brother as proven by the 1851 census); Joseph Brown watch engine turner and engraver on Spon St. (see 1851 census which shows his age as 64 and may be an uncle); Samuel Brown watch mfg on Spon St.; Anthony Brown watch glass maker on Spon St.; Benjaman Brown watch maker on New St.; and Thos. Brown watch mfg on Summerland Pl.
1841 census for Coventry, St Michael Parish, shows him as age 38 (born 1803), a watch maker, living on Townwall St. with his wife, Susannah age 37 (born 1804), son Benjamin age 12, son Henry age 5, son James age 1, daughter Hannah age 14, daughter Emma age 9, and daughter Eliza age 3. All were born in the county. This census also has a Benjamin Brown age 70 (born 1771) and wife Elizabeth age 60 (born 1781), living on Hill St., St. John's Baptist Parish, Enumeration Dist #28, Coventry, a watch maker and not born in the county. These are his parents.
1828 christening of his son, Benjamin, per Bishop's Transcripts shows he was a watch maker living on Town Wall, Coventry with his wife Susannah (film 502208).
1825 marriage was established by review of the Bishops Transcripts for the Holy Trinity Church, Coventry. Present were James Blackwell and Isaac Brown (wife may be Hannah). The IGI also shows the marriage.
1802 christening is from the IGI and confirmed by review of St. John's Parish Register (film 560718). A review of the Bishop's Transcripts (film 428988) shows that the year 1802 is missing.
