Christian RIBLET

Daniel and Jacob Riblet were living in Penn Township, Union County, in the 1820 and 1830 censuses. Jacob Riblet was in Penn Township, Union County, in the 1840 and 1850 censuses but is living in Tazewell County, Illinois in the 1860 census. He died in Pekin Township,Tazewell County, Illinois on 23 September 1867 .
Undocumented family trees list Mary Riblet as a daughter of Christian Riblet. Mary Steese gave an affidavit for Christian Riblet's widow, Christiana Magdalena Riblet, when she applied for widow's benefits in 1851 on Christian Riblet's Revolutionary War service. Mary Worthington Riblet is listed as the second wife of Frederick Steese in Snyder County Annals, a book about Snyder County, Pennsylvania. Union and Snyder Counties in Pennsylvania are adjacent to each other. Undocumented family trees also list Anna Riblet, wife of Solomon Repass, as a daughter of Christian Riblet.

Military
He enlisted at Bethlehem, Pennsylvania as a private in Captain Nicholas Karns company under Colonel John Arnott from Pennsylvania for three months on 20 July 1776. He was drafted as an orderly sergeant in Captain John Reader's company under Colonel Stephen Bolyard from Pennsylvania for two months beginning on 23 August 1779. He enlisted as an orderly sergeant in Captain Jacob Klader's company under Colonel Stephen Bolyard from Pennsylvania for two months beginning on 4 or 5 November 1779.He applied for a pension on 23 May 1834 in Richland County, Ohio and was approved for a pension which he received until his death on 6 April 1844. His widow later applied for a pension in February, 1851 but died before she ever received it. The Pension Office wanted her to provide "proof" of her marriage to Christian Riblet. She tried to do this by having others provide affidavits that they were known as husband and wife.

Christian and his wife were living with their son Daniel and his family in the 1830 census. Daniel Riblet had a male and a female 60 thru 69 in his household in the 1830 census. Christian and his wife then moved with Daniel and his family to Ohio in 1831.Endnotes
