Henry BATDORF

Martin also purchased 443 acres in Bethel Township, Berks County sometime prior to 1766 from Thomas Freame or his estate for 186 pounds but never received a deed of conveyance from him or his estate. Thomas Freame's daughter, Philadelphia Hannah conveyed a deed for 443 acres to Martin Battorff on 7 August 1766. Martin had purchased this land from Thomas Freame or his estate but Thomas Freame died about 1741 and his estate could not be settled until his daughter Hannah became 21 years of age. Martin sold/transferred this property to two of his other sons, Christian and Henry, and to a grandson Martin. His grandson Martin was a son of Martin, Sr.'s deceased son, John Adam. Martin, Sr. sold/transferred 157 acres to his grandson Martin on 7 October 1766. This deed is recorded in Berks County. His sons Christian and Henry supposedly received the rest with Christian receiving 160 acres. Deeds for the transfer to his sons Christian and Henry were never recorded in Berks County. However, the description of the land with adjoining landowners in the deed recording the transfer to his grandson states "thence by land granted or intended to be granted to Christian Badorff...thence by lands granted or intended to be granted to Henry Badorff..."

This may be the land that Henry supposedly received from his father, Martin Batdorf (part of the Thomas Frame estate). There is no deed in Berks County recording this transaction but it may appear in another deed as part of the chain of title.
