Notes
Property
There is no deed recorded showing that David sold this land. He was listed as a farmer in the 1860 census with real estate worth $1000. He was listed as a laborer in the 1870 census. There are no probate records for him in Jefferson County, Pennsylvania.Death
Cornelius E. Koppenheffer transcribed the original Bethlehem Lutheran Church communicants' lists. Although David and Salome's tombstone gives his death date as 1876, he appears for the last time in the Koppenheffer communicants' lists on 30 September 1877. The original Bethlehem Lutheran communicants' list for 30 September 1877 was checked. David Himes does not appear in the communicants' list on 30 September 1877 so the date on his tombstone is correct. The only Himes appearing in the list is Leyles (perhaps for Delilah although first name is very difficult to read) Heimes.Endnotes
