Notes
Census
Jacob Himes was living in Holmes County, Ohio in 1858 and appears in the 1860 census there. He does not appear in the 1850 census for Holmes County, Ohio. He appears in the 1850 census in Tuscarawas County, Ohio. He had a son named Courson Miller Himes and there is a Miller Himes nearby in the 1850 census in Tuscarawas County, Ohio. The Jacob Himes in the 1850 census in Tuscarawas County, Ohio was 50 with a wife Catharine and a daughter Susanna. This combined with a Miller Himes nearby is circumstantial proof that this is the same Jacob Himes. Also, daughters Lovina and Fyalta appear in the 1860 census also.Endnotes
