LIFE
A. Conflict: Alexander, A Brief History of the Hawaiian People, p 325 and Genealogy of John Young 2/28/1942, U171 state his date of death as August 19, 1862.
B. Raised by Namakeha and Kapiolani (Record of foster parents of the Kamehamehas and other chiefs, HEN v1 p 763-765).
C. He died of brain fever (Liliuokalani, Hawaii's Story by Hawaii's Queen, p 20).
D. With his death, there remained no heirs in the bloodline from Kamehameha; therefore, the head of government "was to pass on under the constitutional laws created and enacted by Kamehameha III, whereby the sovereignty of the islands ... should be an elected monarchy" (Pratt, Keoua: Father of Kings, p 32).
