LIFE
A. Umi took his half-sister, Kapukini, to be one of his mates, and thus their children would be "Alii Pio," chiefs of the highest grade" (Fornander, An Account of the Polynesian Race, vol 2 p 97). Kapukini had not quite reached womanhood when Umi was 20 (Kalakaua, The Legends and Myths of Hawaii, p 274).
