Baptized at Our Saviours Lutheran, Canby, MN. Confirmed at Grace Lutheran, Mora, MN. Raised on a farm near Canby, MN, moved to Mora, MN in 1959 with parents. Graduated high school at Mora High School, June 1976. Terry's car had gone into the ditch and he was walking home, when a drunk driver hit him and drove away. Hit and run. The side mirror of the pickup hit Terry in the head. He died at Univ. Hospital, Minneapolis, MN.

Terry Kapinos killed in hit-run accident Sunday
Terry William Kapinos, 19, of rural Mora died Sunday, Dec. 19, at the University Hospital in Minneapolis following a hit-run accident which occurred at five minuted after midnight that morning. Kapinos had rolled his car on a county road and was walking south when he was struck by a pickup, owned by Kenneth Cuda of Brook Park, which was traveling south on highway 65, 5 1/2 miles north of Mora. The pickup left the scene of the accident. Mr. and Mrs. Ben Akkerman found him and summoned help. He was taken by ambulance to the University Hospital.
Cuda turned himself in about three hours after the accident.
According to Minnesota State Patrol Officer Ernie Blaisdell, the accident is still under investigation.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 22, at the Grace Lutheran Church in Mora with Pastor William Strom officiating. Rev. Strom was the soloist and Mrs. Bernard Nordenstrom, the organist.
Pallbearers were Stanley Nelson, Michael Kapinos, lee Christopherson, David Eggert, Mark Boggs and Russell Lovro. Interment was in Oakwood Cemetery at Mora. Dresser Funeral Services was in charge of arrangements.
Terry William Kapinos, son of Willie and Gloria Kapinos, was born Oct. 10, 1957, at Canby. He resided there until March 1959 when he moved with his parents of Mora where he attended school. He was baptized at Canby and was confirmed at the Grace Lutheran Church in Mora. he graduated from Mora High School in May 1976. During the past summer he worked for Harthan Construction Company. He was also engaged in logging with his brother.
Terry is survived by: his parents, Gloria and Willie Kapinos; three brothers, Keith of Ogilvie, Larry in the U. S. Navy stationed in Scotland and Kevin at home; four sisters, Mrs. Marshall McGrew (Judy) of Ogilvie, Janis of Mora, Mrs. James Nehring (Joy) of Ogilvie, and Carol at home; his granmother, Mrs. Mary Kapinos of Canby, and grandfather, Gilbert Lovro of Wyoming, Minn.; two nephews, two nieces, and several aunts and uncles.
