Mr. Sagmoe had been engaged in farming most of his lifetime. For the past 38 years, he had resided on his farm southeast of Hendricks. He had served the community in many public offices. For several years he was a trustee at First Lutheran church. He served as clerk of school district 21 for a period of 27 years, and for nearly the same length of time, was a member of the township board.
At the time of his death, Mr. Sagmoe was a member of the board of the local creamery. He was also serving as a member of the Lincoln County Welfare Board and of the Board of County Commissioners. He had held this latter office for a period of ten years and was serving in his third term of office. We have learned that Mr. Sagmoe's record for attendance at board meetings was probably unusual in that he seldom, if ever, missed a meeting.
