Bersvend and Ingrid immigrated to America in 1876. They settled in the Hendricks, MN area. With them came Bersvend's father, Ellev Jakobsen Lokkesmo (his wife had died in 1872). When they came to America, Ellev Jakobsen Lokkesmo went by the name Ellev Jakobsen and Bersvend Ellevsen went by the name Bersvend Lokkesmo.
The book said, after they came to America, they had three sons one of which worked with plows and the other two who were Clergymen.
