== Biography==The only original source document that can be found for Mary is her father's will.Virginia, Wills and Probate Records, 1652-1983 for William Owens, photocopy at https://www.ancestry.com/interactive/9085/007645117_00010?pid=127939 Her father's biography, including a full transcription of the will, can be found at https://theowensodyssey.com/william.php
We can infer that she was born after (possibly years after) 1703 in Henrico County, Virginia--a property record shows her father was unmarried in 1703 Henrico County Deeds and Wills, 1697-1704, page 546. She would have been born in Henrico County unless she was born after 1728, when the part of Henrico County where her parents lived became Goochland County.
Her father's will is replete with crude misspellings. For instance: Mary's name was listed as" dafter Marey Genens". It is believed it should have been daughter Mary Jennings. We don't know Mr. Jennings first name.

I have removed source S238 (The Virginia Genealogist, Vol. 23, p. 163) because it does not support any of [[Owens-201|Mary Owens]]’ information as claimed. The only item relative to the Owens family on the referenced page is that William Owen, and wife Lydia transferred a land deed to Michael Holland, Sr. and William Attkins ''(their son-in-law)'' was a witness. Source S238 also listed a URL, http://kinnexions.com/smlawson/owens.htm#BOwens, that no longer exists. Entered by [[Owens-3992|Virgil Owens]] 2 Jan 2020.
