Lawrence was born about 1790. He married to Mary Ann Norton in Pendleton County, Kentucky the year 1811. Lawrence's father, Lewis Van Buskirk, was said to be a "Pennsylvanian" who had come to Kentucky very early. It is not clear if Lawrence was born prior, but he listed Kentucky on the census. He and Mary Norton where parents to George, Martha (Buskirk) Myers, Eliza (Buskirk) Collins, William, Amanda (Buskirk) Morris, and Armilda (Buskirk) Crook. Lawrence passed away in April of 1872 and Mary Ann (Norton) Buskirk followed in September. They were residing in Clark County, Missouri and are buried with a joint grave marker in Day Cemetery in Winchester.
