== Research Notes ==Prior to 30 March 2020, several of the WikiTree profiles had birth years after his death. Richardson (''Royal Ancestry,'' I:176 ASTON 14) does not give a birth year for him, or a date for his marriage to Elizabeth Delves. His father was born about 1414, died 1464 and had 4 children (ASTON 13). John and Elizabeth had 13 children (9 daughters, three sons); their oldest son, John, was born "about 1465" (ASTON 15). The 1444 birth year Lewis is a good guess (his father would have been 30 and he would have been 21 when his son John was born). Lewis lists Thomas Aston as born c1480, but a son Thomas is not listed by Richardson ("three sons, John, K.B., Richard, and Robert").
