Agnes Forbes

(1460 - Abt 1515)

}'''Caution:''' There is some doubt as to her parentage. She is believed to have been a daughter of Lord Forbes and the dates suggest this must have been James Forbes and his wife Egidia. However major family source works do not suggest the same link.
== Biography ==}
Agnes Forbes appears as the wife of Alexander Skene, Laird of Skene, a son of Gilbert de Skene and Cristina Mercer.Memorials of the family of Skene of Skene [https://archive.org/stream/memorialsoffamil00skenuoft#page/n49/mode/1up page 23] In that text she is stated to a daughter of Lord Forbes. The family historian suggests that she was probably a daughter of James, 2nd Lord Forbes, and his Egidia Keith. Memorials of the family of Skene of Skene [https://archive.org/stream/memorialsoffamil00skenuoft#page/n49/mode/1up page 23] The date of the marriage is not provided. Their eldest son, Alexander, is said to have attained his majority in 1514.Memorials of the family of Skene of Skene [https://archive.org/stream/memorialsoffamil00skenuoft#page/n50/mode/1up page 24] This suggests he was born c. 1590. Thus the year of marriage was c. 1589. As James Forbes died in 1462, she must have been born late in his life and estimated at c. 1460.
She outlived her husband and appears as his widow in a charter of exchange in Oct 1508.
