== Biography ==}
}John Stewart was the son of Sir Robert Stewart of Durisdeer and his wife janet McDougal.
In 1387 the estates of Craigie passed by marriage to John Stewart founder of the Stewarts of Craigiehall.
The estates of Craigie are recorded as belonging to a John de Craigie in the reign of David I (1124–1153).
In 1643 the Stewarts sold the estate, which by this time had a tower house, to John Fairholm, treasurer to the City of Edinburgh.

===Marriage===
In 1387 John Stewart married Margaret, domina de Craigie, the heiress of the estates of Craigie and Braidewood. John and Margaret had at least one child.
