== Biography ==
Robert Stewart was the son of Robert Stewart & Catherine MacDougal, he was born about 1352.
In 1388 he accompanied the "Black Douglas" to Ireland in search of plunder.
In 1401 he was captured at the battle of Hamildon Hill.
He was succeeded to the Lordship of Durrisdeer by his eldest son David on the occasion of his death at the Battle of Shrewsbury on 21 July 1409.

Robert was married to Janet (Ergadia) MacDougal and they had two sons and three daughters together.

* 1. David Stewart. b Abt 1400. Roberts Successor.
* 2. William Stewart. b. Abt 1380. Chartered the lands of Kirkandris in 1431.
* 3. Elizabeth Stewart. b. Abt 1378. Contracted to marry Michael Mercer of Aldie in 1396
* 4. Isabel Stewart. b. Abt 1385. Married Robert Bruce of Clackmannon.
* 5. Daughter Stewart. b. Abt 1388. Married Sir William Douglas of Drumlanrig.
