==Biography==} Sir Alan Erskine, second son of Sir William, Lord Erskine was born about 1325.
About 1360 or earlier, Alan married Isabel also known as Elizabeth only daughter and heiress to Sir John de Inchmartine and his wife Margaret Wemyss.
On marriage Isabel continue to prefer her paternal home and Sir Alan Erskine, in her right was lord of Inchmartin. In 1365 he received a Royal Charter to the Barony of Inchmartine and another to Crambeth in Fife. They had issue two daughters :
* Margaret, married to Sir John Glen of Glen and Balmuto * Isabella, married, as second wife, to Sir John Wemyss of Kincaldrum and
Reres, afterwards of Wemyss.

On the 1st of March 1369-70, Alan de Erskine, Laird of Inchmartine, with the consent of Isabel his wife, for the salvation of their souls, and of those of his predecessors and successors, confirmed the charter,and increased the number of bolls of wheat to eight. Isabel was described as the " undoubted andlawful heiress of the foresaid John de Inchmartine." At Scone on 17 April 1392 Sir Allan Erskine and Elizabeth were granted by King Robert II a pension of £10 10s 8d. RMS Vol.1 845. see [https://babel.hathitrust.org/cgi/pt?id=njp.32101038096846&view=1up&seq=367]

Isabel died about 1399.
Sir Alan died the following year and his estate was divided by his daughters as heirs portioner.
