Death

Anna K. Lane 87, Indianapolis, passed away Tuesday, June 22, 2004. She was born February 27, 1917, in Brazil, IN. Her parents were James T. and Grace (Hardsty) Shepard. She was employed for many years by U.S. Postal Service as a mail sorter. She was a member of Southport United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Chapter U of the International P.E.O. Sisterhood and her book club. She is survived by her daughter in law, Deborah Lane and grandchildren Cassandra and Derek Lane, all of Grand Prairie, TX; sisters Helen Howald and Dorothy Snell of Brazil, IN; nieces Jane (Snell) Bledsoe of West Chester, OH, Carolyn (Shepard) Starks and Linda D. Shepard of Fortville, IN; and nephew Denis Howald of Wingate, IN. She also leaves behind several great nieces and nephews and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Leon Lane, her son Dr. John D. Lane, her brother John L. Shepard, and her parents. A memorial service will be held Monday, June 28, at 10 a.m. at the Southport United Methodist Church, 1947 E. Southport Road, Indianapolis. Memorial contributions may be made to donor's favorite charity. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Cremation Society of Indiana.Published in the The Indianapolis Star on June 24, 2004
