Melvin G. Harbaugh Sr.

MELVIN G. "MEL" HARBAUGH, SR., 76, of 235 Lumber St, Littlestown, died Sunday, Feb. 25, at his home.
Born June 4, 1919 in Liberty Township, Adams County, he was the son of the late Allen and Maude Eigenbrode Harbaugh.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Delephine E. Hilbert Harbaugh.
He was a member of Church of the Apostles, United Church of Christ, Waynesboro, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6954, Littlestown. He was a life member of Mechanics S.F.E. and Hose Company #1, Waynesboro. He was involved with various VFWs for 53 years.
A World War II veteran, he served in the U.S. Army with Company F, 27th infantry in the 25th Division during the bombing of Pearl Harbor. He received the American Defense Service Medal and the Bronze Star Asian Pacific Service Medal.
He was a carpenter for Hess Planning Mill, Waynesboro, for 33 years, retiring in 1980.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Melvin G. Harbaugh, Jr. of Waynesboro, and Larry E. Harbaugh of Littlestown; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, one sister, Rita Naugle of Fountaindale, Pa.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 28, at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, with the Rev. Carole A. Kipe officiating. Interment will be in Harbaugh Church Cemetery, near Rouzerville.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 27, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Church of the Apostles, United Church of Christ, 336 Barnett Ave., Waynesboro, Pa. 17268.
Military graveside services will be conducted by Littlestown VFW Post 6954 and the Ocker-Snyder American Legion Post 321 honor guards.
