M. Margaret Poe, 89, formerly of 5140 Wayne Road, Chambersburg, PA, died at 4:30 PM Thursday, February 17, 2011 at ManorCare Health Services.
Born August 20, 1921 in Fulton County, she was the daughter of the late William and Ada Jane Cooper Carbaugh.
Margaret was employed as a seamstress at the former Stanley Company in Chambersburg and she was a member of Fetterhoff Chapel United Methodist Church. Her hobbies included spending time outdoors, flower gardening, needlework, crocheting, and working puzzle books.
Her beloved husband, Jaye E. Poe, whom she married August 20, 1941, preceded her in death on August 22, 2000.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Lou and Lonnie Sheeley of Chambersburg; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Lester Carbaugh of Mont Alto, and Orville Carbaugh of Waynesboro. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Raymond E. Poe in 1976, and six brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, February 24, 2011 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. PA. Rev. Matthew Plant will officiate. Interment will follow in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
