Alice Shives

ST. THOMAS, Pa. - Alice G. Eshelman, 77, of 1867 Pioneer Drive, St. Thomas, died Saturday, April 10, 1999, at her home.
Born July 16, 1921, in Sylvan, Pa., she was the daughter of the late James H. Sr., and Lola Blanche Stahl Shives.
She and her husband operated their family farm for a number of years.
She is survived by her husband, Garnet K. Eshelman Sr., whom she married in 1940; one daughter, Betty J. Niswander of Chambersburg, Pa.; three sons, Dean S. Eshelman of Fort Loudon, Pa., Carl D. Eshelman and Garnet K. Eshelman Jr., both of St. Thomas; two sisters, Laura R. McKinney of Avondale, Pa., and B. Rebecca Sowers of Mercersburg, Pa.; one brother, Paul E. Shives of Hancock; nine grandchildren and three great-grandsons.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Carbaugh, Frances Shives, and Hazel Barnhart, and two brothers, John W. Shives and James H. Shives Jr.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home, Inc., 47 N. Park Ave., Mercersburg. The Rev. Robert L. Mentzer will officiate. Burial will be in St. Thomas Cemetery, St. Thomas.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. in the funeral home.
