Garnet K. Eshelman, Sr., 93, of 1867 Pioneer Drive, St. Thomas, PA died at 7:45 a.m. Friday July 24, 2009 in S&W Elderly Private Care Home, Chambersburg, PA. Born Novem- ber 12, 1915, in Markes, PA he was a son of the late Andrew Milton and Fannie May Keller Eshelman. A life-long dairy farmer in the St. Thomas area, he farmed from 1941 until recent declining health. His wife, Alice G. Shives Eshelman, died April 10, 1999. Surviving are a daughter, Betty J. (Mrs. Blaine) Niswander of Chambersburg; three sons, Dean S. (husband of Brenda) Eshelman of Ft. Loudon, PA and Carl D. Eshelman and Garnet K. (husband of Wanda) Eshelman, Jr. both of St. Thomas; nine grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by a grandson, Benjamin Tyler Bumbaugh, two sisters, Florence Mackey and Grace Starliper, and four brothers, Merle Eshelman, Raymond Eshelman, Paul Eshelman, and Nelson Eshelman. Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family in Lininger-Fries Funeral Home Inc., Mercers- burg, with Reverend Robert Mentzer officiating. Private burial will be in St. Thomas Cemetery, St. Thomas, PA. The family requests the omission of flowers.
