"Moved from Miami Co., OH in 1839 to Delaware Co., IN. From there to Logansport, IN. in 1847. In MAY 1860, he moved to Kansas and settled on a 260 acre farm in Richland. During the Civil War, he served 18 months in the Kansas militia. He raised a boy named John BAISINGER, born abt. 1865, who had 2 daughters. After moving to Kansas, they lost connections with the Dunkard Church.
'My Grandfather had a good sized orchard. His policy was to mark the fruit trees he wanted for his family then twice a week the orchard was open for the neighbors to help themselves. Quite different from our living of today. Also a handshake made it possible for a young couple getting married to borrow $100 from him to start their married life. A choice of a pig or heifer was given to them as a "gift". From a letter by Vera J. HANLON, daughter of Mary Catherine, daughter of David William."
