Death
Rev. Harold D. "Big" Baker, 68, of Lewistown, formerly of Milroy, died at 4:50 p.m. Monday, February 3, 1997 at his home.
He was born October 10, 1928 at Lewistown, a son of the late David L. and Etta [Hommel] Baker.
April 2, 1951 he married the former Patricia Ann Gilbert, who survives. He is also survived by four children, David G. Baker of Burnham, Mrs. Brad [Betsy] Sullivan of Chandler, AZ, Laurie J. Baker of San Francisco, CA, and Chris E. Baker of Reedsville; and four grandchildren. Also surviving are ten brothers and sisters, J. Harry Baker of Nanticoke, PA, Mrs. Peter [Elnora] Zarkovich of Mifflintown RR, P. Robert Baker of Port Royal RR, Mrs. Richard [Betty] Fultz of Lewistown, Mrs. James [Martha] Warner of Mechanicsburg, Mrs. Milton [Etta] Henry of Lewistown, Rev. Bruce Baker of Newburg, NY, Mrs. William [Nancy] Francis of Quebec, Canada, Mrs. Donald [Shirley] Morgan of Lewistown and Ray R. Baker of Mifflintown.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. He was a 1947 graduate of Yeagertown High School and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.
He had worked for 20 years as a driver for Gulf Oil. He was founding pastor and a member of Milroy Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, where he served as pastor for the past 26 years. He was also a PIAA football and basketball official.
Funeral services were held Thursday at his church, with Rev. Milton Henry officiating. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Milroy.
