FOUR DEATHS OCCUR IN FAMILY IN TWO MONTHS
Death entered a Leesport family four times within the last two months. Following her son-in-law, William SHEIDY, of Sinking Spring, R.D. 1 , in death only 24 hours, Elmira (HAFER) widow of John WAYNE, died this morning at the home of her granddaughter, Mrs William SPEACE, Jr, in Ontelaunee township, near Leesport. She was 82 years old. On Nov 7, Mrs Wayne's brother, Benjamin HAFER, died in Centerport, Nov 21, a brother-in-law, Henry Schell, died in Hyde Park, yesterday the son-in-law, William SHEIDY, and this morning, Mrs. WAYNE.
Death followed an illness of four days. Surviving are six children, James, near Van Reed's Paper MIll, Katie, widow of William SHEIDY, who will be buried on Saturday, Samuel, Ontelaunee township, Annie, wife of Frederick DAUBERT, Reading, Daniel, Stonersville, and Ella, wife of Clarence EYRICH, Erie, Illinois, 25 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, one brother, Samuel HAFER, Centerport, and three sisters, Mary, widow of Henry SCHELL, Reading, Katie, widow of John COLDREN, Riverside, and Anna, widow of William KULP, West Lawn. She was a member of the Reformed congregation of Belleman's Church. Her husband died 29 years ago. She was a daughter of the late Benjamin and Elizabeth (Yerger) HAFER. Funeral services Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at the Naftzinger funeral home, Centerport. The Rev. John K. Stoudt will conduct further services in Belleman's Church. Interment in adjoining cemetery.
