Wingo, Leroy C. b 1921 OK living OK enlisted OK 8/13/1942

Leroy was in Roswell, New Mexico at the CCC Camp from October 1937 until April 1938. He was home for several months the he was in Nebraska working for uncle Julius French, then Montana and Idaho working with hay. Floyd was with him in Idaho. In early 1940 he was back home, then to Idaho where his hands froze. He moved on to California and worked in a dairy. He lived some with his sister Margie in San Diego. In 1942 he was back home assisting his father.

In August of 1942 he enlisted in the Army and began his military travels. He went to Ft. Still, Oklahoma then to Camp Hood, Texas, then Camp Beall, California, then Ft. Bragg, North Carolina, then Camp Kellmore, New Jersey, and from there to New York Harbour for a boat ride to Marselle, France. He was wounded . Then he was sent to South Hampton, England, then Chester, England, then Glasgow, Scotland, the Hallarand General Hospital, Statan Island NY, then Guard Hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana, then Ft. Chaffee, Arkansas, then Ft. Sam Houston, Texas and he was discharge from Brook General Hospital on 1/15/1946.

He returned to Berlin and farmed. He moved with his father and brothers to eastern Oklahoma and bought land. In April 1955 after losing his house to a fire he moved to Fruita, Colorado. He had severe headaches because of the altitude and so he returned to Oklahoma and later Texas before settling on the Jim Taylor Ranch Southeast of Cheyenne, Oklahoma. In 1969 they moved to Sunray, Texas and Leroy worked for the city.
