Served as a private in the War of 1812 against Great Brittan. Enrolled in Spartanburg County, South Carolina on October 1, 1814 for a term of six months (served 103 Days) and was discharged in Charleston, South Carolina of January 12, 1815. He provided Alexander Flemming as his substitue at his own expense due to the death of his wife. He served in the South Carolina Militia under Captain James Brannon's detached Artillery Company.
His bounty Warrant file number (NNRG) 55-120-55881 and bounty warrant files number 8,640 for 40 acres of land and 55,881 for 120 acres of land. His pension file number (NNRG) WC22859-Widows Pension with pension number 29,220.

Moved to Missouri around 1835 and settled near Columbia. He was a prominent planter and slave holder. Over the years he married four (4) times. LDS says born 1789. Reference says April 14,1787, died in Boone County, Missouri in 1870. another reference said born April 2, 1802.
Thomas was a Deacon of Mt. Zion Church and her representative at different times in the association. He was in every sence a good man and an energetic farmer. It is said the he would go in a run, so ancious he was to perform his duty well. He moved his family to Missouri and his departure was much regretted by his friends and relatives.
