5 Sep 1706; By his will 23 Jun 1702 Henry Hawkins gave his son Tubman Hawkins a Negro, dau. Elizabeth Hawkins a mulatto, and Elinor Hawkins a Negro; Barton Smoot and Sarah his wife, relict of Henry Hawkins and natural mother of above children confirm the above gift when son comes of age and daus. marry; if Tubman Hawkins should die before his said Negro, his Negro to descend to his brother Thomas Hawkins; if the girls die before marriage, their slaves to descend to Sarah Hawkins, their sister; they also promise to educate Alexander Smith, Tubman, Thomas, Elizabeth and Elinor Hawkins with two years of schooling; /s/ Barton Smoot, Sarah Smoot; wit.
