May it please your Ldspp:
Your Ldspps Letter relateing to the Troopers have Communicated to them, and they seeme to be very well Satisfied therewith, I have little to offer your Ldspp: but the inclosed paper it being a rude Draught of what I have recd: from an Indian formerly taken by the Quiaquos and now come from them ffriday last I had some intelligence of the forreigne Indians in the upper parts of our County scene by the Inhabitants there, I have ranged ever since but cannot have the sight of them being now come in for a Recruite I intend (God willing) to be out againe and if cann meete with them shall vse my utmost to follow your Ldspps Commands, Our County affords an Interpretr that speakes Susquesahannoh one Peter Kellis that hath been some time with the said Indians if your Ldspp approves of it shall make vse of him if occasion offers.
Our neighbouring Indians would very faine goe out with me to the number of tenn for that they say wee shall hardly see them, unless by a chance, the which I leave to your Lspps consideration, I very much want Eight or tenn Carabines for my Troope, if cann be spared shall send for them, One of them [p. 204] the Post hath promised to bring. Since the treate with the abovesaid Indians and the Zachaiahs, One of their greate men killed by a Scoute. I am just now returned from Zachaiah fort but cannot discover any fforreigne Indians, I shall not omitt any oportunity to treate with them and give your Lspp a full acce thereof here are some persons of our County that possesseth my Officers their Commissions are not in force they being signed by the late Lievetenant Generall Mr Notley dureing his pleasure, I humbly request your Ldspp to send others by the returne of the next post, viz: One for my Self if with your Lspps good likeing, one for my Lievetenant George Godfrey, one for Robert Middleton Cornett, Mr Hawkins haveing sollicited to be out his wife being lately dead, and One for a Quarter Master to be left blank for whom I shall see most deserving if approoved by your Ldspp: I have nothing worth your Lspps view but the tender of my best endeavours Subscribing alwaies
